Biryusinsk is a town in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of
the Biryusa River, 682 km northwest of Irkutsk. Administratively, Biryusinsk
is under jurisdiction of nearby town of Tayshet. Population: 9,600.
Biryusinsk was founded as a workers' settlement of Suyetikha named after the
Suyetikha River. It was granted town status in 1967 and renamed Biryusinsk
after the Biryusa River. Biryusinsk's industrial enterprises include a timber
factory and a hydrolysis plant.
