Klintsy is a town in Bryansk Oblast, Russia, situated on the Turosna River
some 172 km southwest of Bryansk. Population: 66,100. It was founded in the
early 18th century on mixed Ukrainian-Russian territory, and under the Hetman
state (1663 it was on the territory of the Starodub regiment. From 1802
to 1917 it was a major manufacturing center in Chernihiv gubernia, producing
woolens, linen, sheepskin, boots, cast iron, and bricks. Klintsy a small
city, but nonetheless the region's second largest, that has preserved in its
center a notable collection of 19th century architecture, including some
